High School Students Beautify Garden for Peninsula Seniors

members, a philanthropic group of South Bay students called Interact, and Palos Verdes High School students all contributed to the green effort that made the Peninsula Seniors landscape beautiful.

Students of Palos Verdes Peninsula High School, Palos Verdes High School and Rancho Del Mar beautified the previously uninspiring front yard landscape of the Peninsula Seniors Center. Local Palos Verdes landscape architect Scott Martin with the living Christmas tree company donated his time to design a low-maintenance garden as well as mentor the high school students’ good green effort. Title sponsor Malaga Bank along with Home Depot, Adia, LLC, Subway and PVP Rotary have pledged dollars and a variety of plants, cottage annuals, dwarf evergreens and ground cover. Student leaders consisting of mostly graduating seniors learned about the resources in the community, problem solving, the aging process, families across the life span and giving back to others in need. The Peninsula Seniors experienced the positive qualities of the local youth doing something good and green.
